Thabo takes responsibility for organising incoming stock, handling urgent requests, and keeping the warehouse in Sunnyrock running smoothly through every Eskom outage or Highveld thunderstorm. He oversees inspection of jaw plates, mantles, concaves, blow bars and screen media as they arrive, checking for casting flaws, fitment issues, and material grades. He keeps tight control over picking, packing and staging orders for collection or delivery, often loading bakkies himself to meet tight change windows during a plant shutdown. Thabo makes sure all parts are stored safely, with lifting lugs and bolts accounted for, and manages everything from polyurethane tension mats to toggle plates so nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
Helping quarries and crushers tackle real-world issues
Thabo fields calls and emails from foremen and fitters working everywhere from Karoo dolerite quarries to humid Durban sand plants. He helps diagnose common failures, like incorrectly torqued liner bolts, uneven feed leading to poor wear patterns, or screen panels losing tension after a hot day. He’s seen the results of running with the wrong closed side setting, and regularly advises on choke feeding and proper nip angles for maximum throughput and liner life. When a customer reports blow bar breakage or uneven rotor wear, Thabo talks them through martensitic versus chrome iron options and the difference ceramic inserts can make for recycled concrete. He understands the importance of the toggle plate as a tramp-metal fuse, and always pushes for safe lockout before work begins.
