Aperture Card
Screen aperture honesty card for sales grades.
Purpose of the aperture card
Our screen aperture honesty card is designed as a practical tool for quarries, mines, contract crushers, recycle yards and sand plants using vibrating screens. It provides a consistent, on-the-ground record of screen panel aperture sizes, open area, media type and condition across each deck and bay. The card is usually filled in by the site foreman, fitter or maintenance lead at the plant, either during shutdown inspections or routine liner checks.
The goal is to simplify discussions and orders for screen panels by making the actual details visible and agreed upon before parts are supplied. This avoids errors in mesh size, fitment or material grade when requesting spares. The latest printable PDF version is available to customers who use our contact form.
Fields on the aperture card and how to complete each
The card breaks down the essential information needed for an accurate screen panel order and campaign tracking. Fill in each field clearly, referring to the physical screen or OEM manual as required.
- Panel Location: Deck (top, middle, bottom), bay or feed zone as marked on site.
- Aperture Size: Actual measured hole size in mm, always measured with feeler gauges or callipers.
- Open Area: Estimate or calculate as a percentage if available, usually found in supplier tables.
- Media Type: Polyurethane, rubber, woven wire, punch plate or hybrid.
- Panel Condition: Mark 'good', 'worn', 'blinded', or note pegging, wear pattern or wire breakage.
- Fastening: Type of fixing, e.g. pin-and-sleeve, bolt-down, clamp bar or hook strip.
- Date and Inspector: Record who measured and when, for tracking over time.
Using the card in screen maintenance programmes
Over a liner campaign, the completed aperture cards are kept in the plant's maintenance file or control room. After each shutdown or scheduled inspection, update the card to track wear, pegging or blinding trends and replacement intervals. This helps with campaign planning, as you can anticipate when which panels will need ordering, swapping or flipping.
Comparing cards from past campaigns gives a picture of how feed distribution, screen tension and material changes affect life and performance. When ordering spares or upgrades, refer to the latest completed cards to ensure correct aperture, media and fixing details are supplied. If there are any queries, bring the card to your next site meeting with our team.
