Hopper Map

Hopper and chute liner map template.

Purpose of the hopper map template

The Hopper Map is a practical resource used by plant teams to track and manage the wear liner layout in hoppers, chutes and transfer points. It helps production, maintenance and engineering staff document the installed liner positions, material types and change-out dates. Our customers in quarries, mines, sand plants and crushing contractors use this template to get a clear, visual reference of their liner set-up before and during each campaign. Normally, the foreman or maintenance supervisor fills it in during liner installs and inspections, in consultation with their crew.

This sheet is meant to be printed and taken onto site. It encourages teams to mark up actual liner positions, note any trial materials in test zones, and record repairs or swaps. The map creates a permanent record, which helps at handovers and supports good decision making for the next liner order.

How to fill in the hopper map

The map includes fields that are critical for wear tracking and accurate re-ordering. Each section is designed to prompt the right details and make future inspections easier. Use a pen or marker to fill in the sheet on site, and keep it in a file or scan for site records.

  • Liner position number: Mark sequentially or as per your plant’s part numbers.
  • Liner material: Record type, such as 400BHN, rubber, ceramic or polyurethane.
  • Fixing method: Note weld-on, bolted, or studded.
  • Install date: Date of fitment or last change-out.
  • Thickness and dimensions: Write the original liner thickness and key dimensions in millimetres.
  • Observed wear: Each inspection, jot down worn thickness or any cracks, using callipers or manual gauge.
  • Remarks: Mark hotspots, abnormal wear, damage, or feed pattern notes.

Using the hopper map over a liner campaign

During a liner campaign, the Hopper Map becomes a central reference for maintenance and planning. Many plants keep the sheet in the supervisor’s bakkie or control room, updating it after each shutdown or inspection. By comparing wear patterns and install dates, teams can predict which liners will need changing next, spot feed distribution problems and avoid unplanned stoppages.

At the end of a campaign, the completed Hopper Map helps with ordering the correct quantities, matching OEM or custom profiles and planning for upcoming campaign work. It also assists when briefing new team members or contractors. To request the latest printable PDF template, use our contact form.
