Liner Photo Log
Photo log template for night and day crew handoffs.
Photo log for liner changes and handovers
The Liner Photo Log is a practical sheet for shift-based recording of crusher or screen liner condition. It is designed to help day and night crews hand over clear, visual evidence of liner wear, along with key operational notes. This log is usually filled in by the plant foreman, fitter, or maintenance crew at each inspection, often tied to regular daily or shift change walk-arounds.
Using this sheet creates a running record that improves communication between crews, reduces argument about blame, and helps everyone spot abnormal wear or potential safety issues early. Each entry can be supported with a photo, making it easier for teams to track changes over the life of a liner set, no matter who is on shift.
Fields to complete on the liner photo log
Accurate, consistent entries are essential. Each field is designed to capture information that matters for maintenance and planning, not just paperwork.
- Date and time of inspection: Use 24-hour format, note shift (day or night).
- Machine ID/location: Clearly state which crusher or screen and its section.
- Liner component: Specify part (e.g. jaw plate, cone mantle, screen deck).
- Photo reference: Attach or reference numbered digital photos for each entry.
- Wear observations: Describe visually obvious wear, cracks, breakages, or loose fasteners.
- Estimate closed side setting or screen aperture: Record as measured (mm).
- Remarks/actions: Note if any adjustments, torque checks, or liner bolt tightening were done.
- Inspected by: Name and signature of the crew member.
How plants use the photo log during a liner campaign
The log becomes an essential tool during each liner campaign. Crews use it to compare wear rates, plan changes, and communicate across shifts. By recording settings like closed side setting, feed distribution, and tension on screens, teams catch patterns that might mean uneven wear or a need to adjust feed or settings.
Supervisors and maintenance planners review completed logs to spot issues early, organise spares, or adjust campaign length. When preparing for a liner change-out, the photo log’s history helps with safe lifting, torque checks, and lockout planning, reducing downtime and making sure the right profile goes in next time.
