Toggle Fuse Card
Fuse logic card for jaw tramp events.
Using the toggle fuse card in jaw Crusher operations
The Toggle Fuse Card is a practical tool designed for site teams running jaw crushers in quarries, mines, or contract crushing set-ups. It provides a structured way to record and analyse toggle plate performance during tramp-metal events or uncrushable feed incidents. The card should be filled in on site by the plant fitter, supervisor, or whoever inspects the crusher after a toggle plate breaks or is replaced. By keeping a detailed record of each fuse event, teams can spot trends, improve plant safety, and help plan liner campaigns more accurately.
Fields on the toggle fuse card and how to complete them
Each field on the Toggle Fuse Card collects specific information that helps diagnose issues and maintain safe operation. Accurate and complete entries are important for tracking crusher condition and ensuring OEM safety logic is followed. Fill in each field immediately after a toggle event.
- Date and time: Enter when the event happened.
- Crusher ID and location: Record identifying code and site name.
- Closed side setting (CSS) at time of event: Measure and write down.
- Feed material description: Note rock type or product (e.g. G1, dolomite, demolition waste).
- Was the chamber choke fed: Tick yes or no.
- Event description: Briefly describe what happened (e.g. tramp steel, misfed boulder).
- Toggle plate size and profile: Write OEM reference or measure thickness if needed.
- Outcome and repairs: List parts changed, downtime, and any follow-up (e.g. jaw inspection, liner replacement).
- Personnel: Initial and sign for accountability.
Applying toggle event records during a liner campaign
Plant teams use completed Toggle Fuse Cards to track tramp events and toggle replacements across the life of a set of jaw liners. This history helps to pinpoint recurring issues, such as feed build-up, poor distribution, or incorrect CSS settings, and guides maintenance scheduling. At regular shutdowns, supervisors can review the cards to adjust campaign planning, forecast spares, and train crews in safe lockout and toggle replacement procedures. The cards can also highlight if toggles are over-fusing or not breaking as intended, which may indicate incorrect material choice or fitting.
