Abrasion resistant (AR) chute plate is engineered for high-wear applications ahead of crushing and screening chambers. The plate's hardened alloy structure stands up to the constant impact and sliding abrasion from run-of-mine ore, recycled material or sand. At quarries, mines and contract crushing sites, AR plate lines feed hoppers, transfer chutes, loading bins and impact points where rocks and fines stream through by gravity or conveyor. It is especially valuable where fines and sharp edges accelerate wear, such as at transfer spouts before jaw or cone chambers, or under vibrating screens where material drops at height.
This plate extends the life of original hopper and chute structures, minimising downtime and the risk of holes or patchwork from repeated plate repairs. Its use is common in hard rock Highveld operations, coastal aggregate yards and sand plants, and anywhere haul trucks or bakkies tip product into steel hoppers.
Stock, yard handling and site storage
We keep AR chute plate in various thicknesses and standard profiles at our Sunnyrock, Germiston yard. Sheets are stored flat, off the ground, and undercover to protect from moisture and debris. Our team prepares plates to size for urgent replacements or full refurbishments. Each plate is marked for traceability, with lifting lugs or slots as needed for safe handling and placement.
On site, store AR plate flat on wooden blocks to avoid ground contact and warping. In coastal zones, especially Durban or Gqeberha, plates should be tarped or wrapped to reduce rusting from humidity and sea air. Inland and Highveld locations are less prone to corrosion, but plates should still be kept dry, out of direct rain and dust. Take care during Eskom power cuts: plan lifts with backup lighting and avoid rushed handling. Use rated lifting gear and follow all safe lifting protocols.
Ordering AR chute plate for your application
When you need AR plate, let us know the operating environment, the dimensions, thickness and shape required, and whether you need pre-cut holes, slots or welded lugs. Tell us what rock or material your chute or hopper handles, and if it is for a high impact zone or a sliding abrasion area. If you have an OEM profile or drawing, attach it to your email so we can match hole patterns or bends.
AR chute plate is suitable for feed hoppers, transfer chutes, bin liners, impact plates, and discharge points across jaw, cone, impact and screening lines. Custom profiles and edge preparations are available on request. For orders and advice, contact our parts team through our contact form.
