PU Screen Stock

Polyurethane media stock with aperture cards.

Polyurethane screening media and where it fits in

Polyurethane screening media is central to efficient aggregate and mineral separation, especially where toughness and abrasion resistance matter. These panels, mats and modular inserts are engineered for quarries, sand plants, mines and recycle operations where longer life and sharper cut sizes are needed than wire mesh alone can offer. We stock a wide range of aperture sizes and profiles, supplied as tensioned mats, modular panels or bolt-down sheets to suit most OEM screen boxes found in South Africa.

Applications include primary scalping, sizing and desliming. Polyurethane’s resilience handles impact from large stone and sand, and its flexibility copes with sticky feeds that would blind woven mesh. On the Highveld and in the Karoo, the low humidity helps keep screens dry and hard working. On the coast and Lowveld, where humidity and salt air are a concern, polyurethane resists corrosion and hydrolysis far better than steel wire. This makes it a logical choice from Joburg to Durban, Gqeberha and Cape Town.

Handling and storing PU screen panels at Sunnyrock and on site

At Sunnyrock in Germiston, our PU screen stock is racked under cover to avoid UV degradation and to keep panels clean, flat and ready for the bakkie or rig. Each batch is clearly tagged with aperture size, deck position and profile for fast retrieval. We avoid stacking heavy loads on top, so panels keep their shape and fit straight into your screen box.

On your site, keep PU media under shade and off bare ground. Inland, the main risks are sun exposure and accidental bending under heavy stockpiles. Near the coast, salt air and intense UV can age polyurethane, so tarps or sheds are best. Avoid leaving panels in direct sunlight for months, and do not store them near diesel or hydrocarbon spills, as these can soften or distort polyurethane. For sites with frequent Eskom power cuts, plan for manual lifting and keep stock in accessible locations for quick swaps.

  • Rack or stack flat, never bend panels
  • Store under shade to protect from direct sun
  • Keep away from hydrocarbons and sharp impact
  • Label by aperture and deck position for fast changeouts

Ordering the right PU screen media for your application

To match the correct polyurethane media to your screens, let us know the screen brand and model, deck dimensions or panel bolt pattern, and the desired aperture size and shape (square, slotted, VR). If you have unique feed conditions, like heavy clay or high silica, we can advise on profile and thickness. If you are unsure, bring an old sample to one of our showrooms from Cape Town to Mbombela, or send photographs with measurements.

Polyurethane panels are suitable for vibrating screens, scalpers, dewatering decks and some tensioned applications. Check side clamp and bolt compatibility before ordering. Our aperture cards make it easy to compare cut sizes on site or in our yard. Email your requirements and drawings through our contact form, and we will cross-check stock or organise casting runs for special deck layouts.

  • Specify screen brand, model and deck layout
  • Choose aperture size and slot shape for your product
  • Confirm tensioning type or bolt pattern
  • Bring old panel or clear photos for custom orders
