Toggle plates and seats act as mechanical safety fuses inside single-toggle jaw crushers. When tramp material or excessive force enters the crushing chamber, the toggle deliberately breaks to protect high-value components like the pitman and side frames. This is a critical role in quarry, recycling and mining operations across the Highveld, Lowveld, Karoo and coastal regions.
Our toggle fuse stock covers popular OEM jaw crusher models, with plate weights between 18 and 180 kg and seat types for various profiles. These are machined for consistent nip angle and correct bearing contact. Toggle plates must be replaced after activation and are never to be repaired or welded. Always match toggles and seats as a set to ensure safe, predictable crushing chamber performance.
Storage in our Sunnyrock yard and on your site
At our main Sunnyrock yard in Germiston, toggles and seats are stored under roof, on timber slats or in steel racks, to prevent ground contact and moisture wicking. We keep campaign-ready quantities in both standard and heavy-duty profiles, with clear labelling and part traceability.
On your site, toggles and seats should be kept in dry, elevated positions, ideally inside a container or workshop. In the Cape or Durban, where coastal humidity and salt can accelerate rust, keep toggles coated with a light oil film and covered to prevent pitting or corrosion. On the Highveld or Karoo, focus on avoiding dust buildup and rain splash. Never stack toggles directly on concrete or bare ground, as this leads to stress cracking or corrosion initiation.

Ordering and choosing correct toggle sets
To order the correct toggle and seat, tell us your crusher make, model and current toggle thickness or part number if possible. If you see signs of uneven toggle wear, lost nip angle, or unclear chamber breakage, also let us know. Our team can advise on OEM, heavy-duty or custom-fabricated toggles to match your chamber, feed and tramp protection needs.
Toggle plates and seats are not interchangeable between different crusher models or even different generations of the same machine. If you have modified your crusher for a larger closed side setting or different liner profile, mention this so we can recommend the correct toggle dimensions and hardness.
