Understanding tip alloys and rotor specs
Our VSI impeller tips come in alloy options that match your plant’s material and throughput: manganese for shock, chrome iron for abrasion, or ceramic/carbide inserts for extended lifespan. The tip alloy affects not just wear rate but also the pattern of wear, so choosing the right option ties back to your feed and plant goals. Rotor speed matters: each tip is suited for a particular speed window, which we document on the handoff note. Running outside this window, especially with wet or sticky feed, will cause rapid edge failure or breakaway.
When you order, specify your rotor model and the typical speed range, as this affects tip retention and the impact window. We recommend checking your OEM manual for recommended speed settings and confirming that your impeller housing, anvil ring, and tip seats are undamaged before fitment.
How to measure and match your tip profile
To confirm fitment, measure the old tip’s length, width, and bolt spacing. Take a profile photo: a straight-on shot of the tip, plus one showing the seat contact area. If your tip has a raised wear ridge or missing corners, document this, as it helps us identify if the wear is normal or an early warning for feed or rotor issues. For tips with ceramic or carbide inserts, note the insert exposure and any breakages.
Capture your crusher’s nameplate showing the model and serial number, as well as any aftermarket modifications. Send these details and your photos through our contact form. Our team will compare against our template library or 3D scan if necessary.
What to send us for fast matching
Send us: 1) clear photos of the worn tip and anvil, 2) crusher model and serial plate, 3) measured dimensions, and 4) any operational notes about recent feed changes, speed adjustments, or power interruptions. If you have a worn tip with unusual fracture or rapid wear, mention any recent feed moisture spikes or tramp events. This helps us recommend the correct alloy and profile for your next set.
