Where Screen Media Kits work in your operation
Screen media kits are critical in both scalping and finish deck applications, sitting immediately after the primary and secondary crushers. Whether you run multi-deck incline circuits or flat vibrating units, the right screen media ensures accurate separation of product sizes before the next stage. In quarries, these kits handle oversize from jaw or cone output. In crushing plants for recycling, they keep wire, rebar, and fines moving in the right direction. Mines feeding abrasive Highveld quartzite or dolerite put heavy load on top decks, so a robust kit is essential. Finish decks downstream of VSI or cone machines demand tight aperture control to guarantee spec material.
What arrives with your kit
Every screen media kit comes as a complete set matched to your deck’s original profile, including tensioning instructions specific to your clamping system. Select from polyurethane, woven wire, or rubber media based on your plant’s tonnage and material. Aperture cards are supplied for each panel, so there’s no guessing at the screen size. We match the panel mass to your deck’s structural limits, from 10 to 40 kg per section, and ship from our Germiston yard if in stock, or cast on order with a typical lead window of 8 to 21 days. Each batch is checked for correct aperture, profile and end-tail fit.
Tough South African conditions and choosing the right media
Highveld quartzite and granite chew through wire mesh faster, so PU or heavy rubber is often the better option for long campaigns. Coastal plants fighting salt exposure lean toward synthetic media to avoid corrosion, while inland sand plants keep to classic wire for fine screening. Recycle yards, especially on the Reef, deal with embedded steel and concrete fines, so reinforced poly panels or thicker wire are better for resisting tear. Dust and fine silt, common in Karoo operations, can blind apertures. For these, we advise more open profiles and easier-to-swap sections for regular cleaning.
- Highveld: tougher media for abrasive feed
- Coastal: synthetic for salt resistance
- Recycling: reinforced panels handle rebar
- Karoo: open aperture for sticky fines
